Soundlands project

It came to me as a nice surprise. Have been contacted by people behind Soundlands project.

When I was announced as a winner of British National Park competition 2012 my winning picture was published in various publications and over the internet so that’s how they found me. But what is Soundlands?

Soundlands is offering an opportunity for sound artists to create a new sound artwork as part of the Bangor Sound City project. Two successful artists will be selected to create an installation or performance for the city of Bangor, North Wales, and Cwm Idwal, Snowdonia. The works may be original or re-worked for the new context but must not have been previously shown in Wales in any form. They will be shown between June and July 2015.

Last photo trip of the year 2014

Last photo trip of the year is already something like a tradition. Every year my friend Chris is organising an all day trip to coast. 2014 was not an exception and despite the weather ( it was snowing in Midlands…) we set off for North Wales coast .

Last photo trip 2014 started from Nottingham at 4 am we drove to village of Talacre. Lighthouse on the near beach was the main reason for the stop. Still in the dark with headlamps we walked to the beach to find the best spot. And we waited for sunrise. Tide was out and it was not easy to find interesting foreground on empty sandy beach. Sunrise and light was good only slight negative was blank sky, but hey ho… landscape photographer has to work with what he have at that moment. I enjoyed to be out again and I have some decent shots from the morning.
Next plan was to go to Anglesey and check some coastal locations. First we stopped at Rhoscolyn. Sun was high and we walked along the beach to explore. I did not do any pictures here. Next and final stop was planned on the coast not very far from Rhoscolyn village. Coast is dramatic with the cliffs and sea stacks.

Evening was good but I struggled a bit with composition, nevertheless I enjoyed the day. It was a great trip.

Let’s look back at year 2014

New year is in full force already but, let’s look back at year 2014.

One of my intentions was focus more on film photography. I started project 360ex intended to shot at least  360 exposures on film in 2014. Without further ado I can say, I did not managed….

But I don’t mind that, at least i started to use the film again. I’m sure this will continue in 2015.

Short summary of last year:

Photographic trips: 17

Locations: UK, Wales,Scotland, Slovakia

Club competitions wins: 2

Photographic federation acceptances: 2 – prints and 2 digi images accepted into NEMPF exhibition 2015

Out of club competitions:  2  pictures accepted for Jenrick Calendar 2015

Exhibitions: 3

Analogue exposures done (project 360ex): cca 130

My favourite analogue picture of 2014:

Happisburgh beach, Norfolk Coast, 2014. Nikon F5 Fuji Film Velvia 50

All in all not bad, considering all the circumstances. So what’s for 2015?

I’m kicking this year off with 2 exhibitions. First one is NEMPF 2015 exhibition where I have 2 prints and 2 projected images accepted. This exhibition is already open in Mansfield.  Then at the end of February is exhibition at Nottingham Society of artists . All preparations are under way and I hope visitors will enjoy the exhibition. More detail will follow and you are all welcome. I would definitely like to shoot more film and secretly looking into buying a medium format camera. Going to try to enter few international competitions and also continue to compete in my home camera club. It will be a great year for sure….
