It’s great that Nottingham and Notts photographic society carry on with organizing talks with masters of photography. I was really excited to go and see this year’s lecture of Charlie Waite.
Charlie is an English landscape photographer, noted for his “painterly” approach in using light and shade. He is noted for his square format images using a 6×6 Hasselblad. He has lectured throughout the UK, Europe and the United States, published books on photography and is a regular contributor to photography magazines.
Evening was awsome, he is brilliant speaker and he was talking about his pictures a ideas behind his photography. Very inspiring.
In his latest book Arc and Line you can find beautiful landscapes together with fine art. It is a mix of Black and White and colour photos from all around the world. Most of the pictures in the book are new, but some of Charlie’s favourite older images are also included , tracing the influence of the arc and line theme over his years in the field.
I bought a book and Charlie signed it for me , he also sign another one for me, one of my favourite of his: The Making of Landscape Photographs.
All in all great evening and I’m already looking forward to see who it will be next year.
