A hidden gem in the Peak District. Many people don’t even know this place exists. It is a pretty special place. The valley is home to a series of magnificent waterfalls, ponds and the ancient ruins of three mills. This area is of huge archaeological significance, here you will find one of the largest collections of water-powered industrial mills in the country! The area is a scheduled ancient archaeological site and much work continues to preserve this beautiful piece of English heritage.

Kodak TMAX400 is my favourite B&W stock.

What’s yours? Let me know below!

Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera

A short story about how I lost my film shots from the morning shoot

Last Sunday I finally went out to take pictures. For various reasons I was not able to go out in January, so I was looking forward to it a lot. I prepared my gear evening before, make sure all batteries are charged for Mavic. Also, I have loaded Kodak Ektar into one of the backs for my Hasselblad.

You can’t expect to take a definitive image in half an hour. It takes days, often years.

Operating at both extremes of technology

A little bit on how I found myself operating on both sides of technology.

I don’t know why, but I have a soft spot for all things analogue. Film, books, watch, vinyl, just to name a few…
In 2016 I have switched my landscape photography to analogue and I have never looked back. (more…)

Rocks lit up with golden light and mist in the distance… that’s all I needed for this shot.

The photographer must be absorbent–like a blotter, allow himself to be permeated by the poetic moment…. His technique should be like an animal function…he should act automatically. – Robert Doisneau

First trip of the year – YSP 2019

This place!

It is truly an inspirational place and I love to go back and explore.

Not long since I visited YSP last time, I couldn’t think of any better place to go for a walk after Christmas.
