MFPOTW – Padley Gorge #3

Autumnal shot from the famous location in Peak District National Park. It was after the rain and colour were so vivid.  I’m happy with colour delivered by Kodak Ektar.

Quote of the week – Anton Corbijn #2

I don’t crop my images and I always shoot handheld. By doing that I build in a kind of imperfection and this helps to emphasize reality.

Photographer’s Library: Aspects of Expression by Paul Gallagher, published 2008 by Argentum

Sometimes you just need to be a bit lucky. I was this time. During my random visit to the charity shop, I’ve spotted this book on the shelf. Picked it up and had a quick scan through it. I paid £3  and took the book away with me.

What you see is real – but only on the particular level to which you’ve developed your sense of seeing. You can expand your reality by developing new ways of perceiving.

MFPOTW – Waiting for the rays of light

Cold morning in the Peak District. I was waiting for the first rays of morning light, but unfortunately, I got none. Shot on my trusted Kodak Ektar 100 I am pleased with the colours on this shot.

A negative doesn’t mean anything for a photographer of my type. It’s the printing by its creator alone that matters.

When the subject matter is forced to fit into preconceived patterns, there can be no freshness of vision. Following rules of composition can only lead to a tedious repetition of pictorial cliches.

The Steetley Pier near Hartlepool. It is a great place for photography.

Highly recommended. I hope to get back there at some point in 2021.
