LCKDWN ’20 – “What day is it?”

There will be a lot written in history books about the year 2020. It has undoubtedly been an extraordinary year in every sense of the word. From the pandemic to the Black Lives Matter movement via the US Elections and Brexit, 2020 has seen political, social, and cultural upheaval across the world.

Like many of you, I tried to document our family life during 2020 with a view to making a zine or a book. Mostly using black and white film and my various cameras, there was no emphasis on the technical aspect, I tried to catch the feeling and atmosphere during the pandemic times. Pictures are snapshots from ordinary days spent during the lockdown.

My aim was to produce a unique photo album for my family, so I made a decision to use the Moleskine BlackPage album book. I hope this book will be a good reminder for the future about how we lived through the year 2020 as a family. I have never shared any of those photos and I probably never will. Also, I do not plan to do any more copies of this book. Truly a one-off handmade book. I call It LCKDWN ’20 – “What day is it?” because there was a time when I had no idea what day it is…

The fact that the Moleskin book has a little pocket at the back is something I like so much. I included in the book Coronavirus leaflet and the letter received from the prime minister about Coronavirus and the lockdown. I’m sure my grandkids will appreciate it in the future when they check this book out 🙂

How about you? Have you recorded your life during the knockdown? Are planning to put together a book or zine? It will be nice to hear from you! Please comment below and let me know.
