Ooooh how I missed this

12th April 2021 was the date engraved in my mind since Christmas. According to the UK government’s advice, we were not allowed to travel outside the county for any leisure. On this day lockdown should ease out and we should be able to travel again. It was hard for everyone, but not be able to go out with my camera slowly crushed me. Autumnal shot from the famous location in Peak District National Park. It was after the rain and colour were so vivid.  I’m happy with colour delivered by Kodak Ektar.

Photographer’s Library: Edge of Darkness The art, craft, and power of the high definition monochrome photograph by Barry Thornton, published 2000 by Argentum

I really liked Barry’s book Elements, so I was looking forward to reading this one. I was regularly checking the price on Amazon UK and when I found a copy that was in a good condition and reasonably priced, I did not hesitate and bought one.

I don’t crop my images and I always shoot handheld. By doing that I build in a kind of imperfection and this helps to emphasize reality.

Sometimes you just need to be a bit lucky. I was this time. During my random visit to the charity shop, I’ve spotted this book on the shelf. Picked it up and had a quick scan through it. I paid £3  and took the book away with me.

Quote of the week – Wynn Bullock #2

What you see is real – but only on the particular level to which you’ve developed your sense of seeing. You can expand your reality by developing new ways of perceiving.
